The Domaine Rochette Morgon "Côte du Py" is a classic expression of one of Beaujolais' most famous sites, produced by the father-son team Joël and Matthieu Rochette. A "superb" and vibrant nose dominated by pure red fruits like raspberry and redcurrant, alongside floral notes of violet and iris. There is often a subtle background of baking powder or sweet spice. Medium-bodied and highly energized with a tensile, linear structure. It features fresh flavors of cherry and blackberry balanced by a distinct "mossy river stone" or iron-like minerality typical of the Côte du Py's volcanic soils. It has fine-boned but firm tannins and high acidity. While poised and approachable now, the 2022 vintage—marked by a hot summer—retains enough freshness to suggest significant aging potential. A clean, persistent finish with a mineral flicker and a savory, peppery edge.
