Diego Conterno Barolo DOCG '19

From the limestone-clay soils of Monforte d'Alba, this Barolo pours a luminous garnet with bricking rim. The profoundly complex nose weaves together dried rose, tar, wild cherry, and crushed fennel pollen with emerging notes of truffle and leather. The palate achieves perfect Nebbiolo tension - flavors of sour cherry, licorice root, and white pepper dance across firm yet refined tannins that earned 96-98 point scores. Aged 32 months in large Slavonian botti, this 14.5% alcohol wine finishes with a minute-long crescendo of fruit and earth. Decant 4-6 hours for brasato al Barolo or cellar until 2040+ - the 2019 vintage produced Barolos of legendary elegance.
