This old-vine Zinfandel from Sonoma County shows opaque purple hues and bold nose of blackberry jam, violet pastille, and cracked pepper. Gentle extraction techniques yield surprising elegance - flavors of plum skin, licorice, and smoked meat unfold across polished tannins. Aged in neutral oak to preserve fruit purity, it earned 93 points for balance between power and finesse. The long finish reveals dark chocolate and dried sage, making it exceptional with barbecue or spicy sausage.
